The Norwegian government’s new strategy for humanitarian policy was launched on Wednesday 15 May, by Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide and Development Minister Anne Beathe Tvinnereim. During the event, NAIL’s Gro Nystuen gave a speech on the status of international humanitarian law.
— Reports of the death of IHL are greatly exaggerated, Nystuen told the audience.
— It is the violations of IHL that hit the headlines, but all states parties, to all armed conflicts, relate to IHL, and most of them abide by most of the rules most of the times.
The recording of the full event is available on the government’s website.
